Forspoken: Price UKįorspoken, an action RPG from Square Enix, can be purchased for around £50, but we expect it to go down in price fast due to the less-than-stellar critical reception.
The characters are not interesting enough to hold you over and the game is super short anyway with around 15 hours of general playtime.
And even when it opens up a bit more, the activities awaiting you out in the open, including the main story focusing on the cataclysmic event called The Break, feel so underwhelming. Despite its parkour system, it starts slower than we'd like. Yet it never reaches the heights Hogwarts Legacy reaches. Visiting this fantasy world, on paper, should have been like Alice in Wonderland: With some entertaining sorcery sprinkled on top of fast traversal and unique attack skills, it would have easily been a slam dunk to uncover the secrets of an unknown domain. So don't expect The Last of Us levels of writing here. And most importantly, the main character Frey is quite irritating with her Marvel-esque, unfunny quips. The story is basically this: A typical young adult from a metropolitan life gets teleported to an undiscovered and enchanted world, finds a powerful gauntlet with supernatural powers and becomes the centrepiece of a "save everyone" type of hero narrative, yet the game somehow manages to depict it in the most cliche and dull way possible. Unfortunately, despite looking somewhat promising at times, Forspoken turned out to be a massive stinker thanks to its boring action, lifeless world and terrible narrative direction. If you've suffered the global PS5 shortage long enough since launch to then finally got yourself one and looking for worthy games to play on it, you can easily skip this one.
